The One Person I Cant Live Without Pt 4 – 9/13/20

Holy Spirit Series

Romans 8:1-17

There is so much to be learned from this set of passage. It shows us that the Holy Spirit is the difference maker in our lives. Paul shows the contrast between living in/for the flesh verses living in/for the Spirit. The two ways of living are incompatible with each other (Galatians 5:16-18). To accommodate the flesh in any manner is to essentially dismiss the Holy Spirit. It may seem drastic to say that. Scripture teaches that this must be the lens that we view how we are to live our lives. Are you willing to surrender your self to the Holy Spirit? Or will you continue to live in the flesh? Either way, you must decide.

The good news is that the Holy Spirit can, willing and is able to make a difference in your life. The Holy Spirit has absolved us from our guilt and shame of our past sins. Hopefully, when you became a Christian, you released all your past guilt and shame. But many have not, and it does not need to be this way. If you allow, the Spirit of God wants free you. Will you allow Him to absolve you of your past? He will!

When you live with the Holy Spirit, He brings about a paradigm shift; a new way of thinking and acting. With this shift, you will be able to “set your mind on the things above (Colossians 3:1-4)”. You will be able to look at life from God’s perspective and seek after what he desires. This leads us to living with a responsibility to God. Once the Holy Spirit enters our hearts, we are under obligation. We are to live according to the Holy Spirit and not the flesh. We are obliged to follow what the Bible says, not man. The best part is that the Holy Spirit is by your side throughout this journey!

Do you remember your life before Jesus? Likely, it was filled with dysfunction, loneliness, strife, or with the knowledge that you were missing something. When you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you were adopted by Him. You were reborn into His family with position and honor. You were pulled out of your dredges and sin and placed into the loving arms of your father! This work is completed by the Holy Spirit confirming your status as God’s rightful heir. What a blessing!

The Holy Spirit is alive. You cannot live without him! Let him do the work of the Father.
